How to answer (worked examples)

A client wants to improve efficiency in their customer support process. How would you approach it?
Show structure, not a memorized framework. Clarify the goal and current state first, then break the process into stages (intake, triage, resolution, follow-up), identify where time or cost is lost, and propose targeted improvements — automation, self-service, routing, training. Say what data you'd gather to validate and how you'd measure success. End with a crisp recommendation. Accenture wants logical structure and clear, client-friendly communication.
Tell me about a time you adapted quickly to an unexpected change.
STAR. Situation: the change and why it was disruptive. Task: what you still had to deliver. Action: how you re-prioritized, communicated, and stayed effective. Result: the outcome. Consulting is change-heavy, so emphasize composure, flexibility, and keeping stakeholders informed.

What Accenture looks for

FAQ

How hard is the Accenture Business Analyst interview?

It's accessible but competitive given the volume of applicants. The bar is more about clear communication, structured thinking, and culture fit than deep technical skill. Passing the online assessments and showing genuine motivation gets you a long way.

What are the online assessments?

Usually cognitive and situational judgment tests, sometimes a communication assessment, and for technology tracks an aptitude or coding component. Answer situational questions the way a thoughtful, client-focused consultant would.

Is there a case interview?

Often a lighter case or scenario discussion rather than a rigorous strategy case. You'll be asked to structure a client problem and reason to a recommendation, so practice thinking out loud in an organized way.

How technical do I need to be?

For a general Business Analyst role, comfort with Excel, requirements gathering, and clear documentation is enough; technology-focused tracks may probe more on systems and basic tech concepts. Communication and structure matter most.

What does Accenture value in candidates?

Adaptability, collaboration, client-ready communication, and authentic interest in the work. They place people across many clients and industries, so flexibility and a learning mindset stand out.
